Charles Bufford McDuffie III

Senior project manager / Hydro-geologist

Charles provides construction management, environmental, geological, geotechnical engineering skills to Boe’s crew having a bachelor of science degree in geology.  Charles has been employed in the geotechnical engineering field for over two decades.  His experience includes both field and office duties; ranging from writing proposals, interfacing with clientele, drill site coordinator, performing geotechnical engineering, geologic, environmental, and forensic investigations; engineering evaluations, and completion of writing geotechnical, geologic, and compaction reports.  Having perform as project manager over a variety of construction and engineering projects, he understands all aspects of project development utilizing field and engineering experience to evaluate site conditions for producing thorough and concise engineering and earthwork recommendations.

Experienced with bridge, highway, road construction, and mass-grading for up to multi-million yard projects including residential, commercial, state, federal, FAA, and military projects.  Familiar with foundation, retaining wall and subdrain systems, pavement designs, subfloor preparation recommendations, laboratory testing, protocols, and analyses, plan and specification review, SWPPP implementation, and construction management.  Ability to accurately document site field conditions, including geologic and soil classification in relation to construction projects or drilling for preliminary investigations.  In addition, Charles has performed thousands of ASTM D 1556 sand-cone density tests and nuclear density testing, implementing superior field control with thorough documentation.   

Charles was employed for four semesters as an instructor for introductory geology courses, conducted lectures and laboratory classes in accordance with state requirements for college credit.  I also presented seminars and provided tours for the Petrified Forest in Holbrook, Arizona.
